Services to Schools
Presentations (key stage 2 to 4)
Can be tailored to the customers’ requirements. Various
aspects of aviation can be covered dependent on time and requirements. If a suitable space is available
demonstrations of models can be carried out.
'Make fly and take' workshops (key stage 2 upwards)
Can be tailored to the
customers’ requirements
The duration of the workshop can be from one hour to a full day dependent on models to be built. Table space and a chair required for each participant.

INSET and Student Teacher Workshops
Can be tailored to the customers’

Master Classes (key stage 3 to 4)Master Classes are recommended for key stage 3 to 4 and require two full days.
Day one
The participants build a simple rubber powered aircraft (BMFA Dart)
This hones the participants building skills
The drying time required for the adhesives allows for discussion about the design philosophy of the model i.e. materials, aerodynamics and commercial aspects of the design. Also covered is the aspect of energy storage of a rubber motor and how to obtain optimum performance from the motor.
Participants fly their models and are coached in observing how it performs and how to make corrections to achieve an improved flight.
The challenge is given to produce a better model with given material.
Day two
Participants are split up in to teams of three or four.
Each team to design and build a model closely guided and reminded on all the aspects covered in day one.
During the time that the adhesive takes to dry different models are flown to demonstrate the aspects covered.
Teams fly their models and compete against each other.
