A good quality model knife is well balanced and easier to handle and Swann-Morton are undoubtedly the best model knives available. Following simple rules a model knife is safe.

When not in use always retract a blade on retractable knives or fit the guard if supplied. A knife with no guard should be placed in a way that it can not roll and that the blade is not pointing at any one.
